AHA (ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS)

AHAs are a group of water-soluble acids that work as chemical exfoliators to remove dead skin cells and improve skin texture. AHAs are commonly used in skincare products that target concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and acne. Products are formulated to promote skin cell turnover for a brighter, clearer, more even complexion.

INCI

Various (Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Malic Acid, Tartaric Acid, etc.)

ORIGIN

AHAs are naturally occurring acids found in various foods and plants (e.x. glycolic acid from sugarcane, lactic acid from milk, mandelic acid from almonds, etc.)

SKIN TOLERANCE

AHAs are typically well-tolerated on the skin, but may cause mild irritation, redness, or peeling, so it's recommended to start with a lower concentration and gradually increase usage as needed.

SKINCARE BENEFITS

Exfoliates Skin

AHAs loosen the bonds between dead skin cells and allow them to shed more easily.

Improves Skin Texture

AHAs promote skin cell turnover and reduce the appearance of rough or uneven skin texture.

Brightens Skin

AHAs remove dull, dead skin cells to promote a brighter complexion.

Reduced Fine Lines and Wrinkles

AHAs can help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, particularly when used consistently over time.

Reduces Uneven Skin Tone

AHAs can help fade the appearance of hyperpigmentation, age spots and sun damage for a more even skin tone.

Reduces Acne

AHAs can be beneficial for individuals with acne-prone skin because of their ability to unclog pores and reduce the formation of comedones (clogged pores). AHAs are also known to have antimicrobial properties that help kill acne bacteria.

Hydrates Skin

Some AHAs, like lactic acid, can hydrate skin and improve skin's moisture content.

Improves Product Absorption

Exfoliated skin absorbs skincare products like serums and moisturizers, more effectively. AHAs can maximize the benefits of other products in your skincare routine.
